Passion #2351

It’s no secret I like tearing things down…
See how things work…
Attempt repair…
Endorphin buzz if the thing is fixed, failure means I’m pissed off for the rest of the day.

Last time I failed was with an electric kettle. An open circuit with the heating element meant the current goes straight from Live to Earth, hence tripping the breaker every time it is switched on. Replacement heating elements are practically unobtainable, for good reasons too; the element is fused to the metal base against water ingression during manufacturing, it’s simply impossible/uneconomical to repair to a safe standard.

So there I was, pissed off shopping for a new kettle, and not because of the price.

Most people would be happy with a brand new shiny kettle.

Not me, I didn’t get my¬†Oxycontin kick.
